Energy optimisation

Energy optimisation must be strategically guided and should keep in mind the increased potential to reduce costs and opportunities to optimise the processes they represent. As such Endesa, using its specialised technical team, carries out Energy Audits on its installations, with a view to ensuring that they are compliant with legislation (Decree-Law n.º 71/2008) and with the elimination of energy wastage, through the implementation of rationalization and good practices associated with energy management.

Energy Audits

Mandatory for installations with high energy consumption:

  • 1000 tep/year – periodically 6 in 6 years (e.g.: 4,6 GWh/year or 11,6 GWh/year GN)
  • 500 tep/year – periodically 8 in 8 years

Including the following content:

  • Analysis of High Thermal and Electric Consumers
  • Analysis of energy consumption at the productive sector and of the respective appliances
  • Analysis of the auxiliary services, include steam plant, compressed air plant, refrigeration plant, lighting, etc.
  • Calculate the yield of different auxiliary service plants, analysis of compressed air network escape points, etc.
  • Calculation of Energy Indicators: Energy Intensity (tep/€) and Specific Energy Consumption (tep/unid)
  • Setting up of Energy Reduction Goals
  • Drawing up of a Rationalization Plan with Energy Efficiency Measures

Endesa has DGEG/ADENE certified technicians for the Intensive Energy Consumption Management System (IECMS) and will give support to customers by providing different documents on the ADENE site.

After the approval of the Energy Audit, Endesa will be able to complement its work by an annual follow-up in the area of energy management, in which the objective will be to compare all the different energy indicators across all years and support the implementation and supervision of the energy reduction measures.
